Luxury isn’t just for the rich or the well-off or for those with discretionary income. It’s for all. It’s for you. Adding a touch of luxury to your life should be done as often as possible.
Deepok Chopra, talks about "Living Luxury" in his Creating Abundance 21-day Meditation Challenge, Day 20, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6vskImkRGA. In his words, “you deserve all the good the world has to offer. ... By elevating your view of yourself, you elevate the quality of your life”.
He goes on to say, “your outer world will echo your thoughts, beliefs, and intentions that you are a treasured being, worthy of abundance”. According to Mr. Chopra, a luxury is simply “a comfort and pleasure beyond those needed for everyday living”.
I have long believed in the need for luxury. We can all afford luxury because many small luxuries don’t cost much at all, if anything at all. Do you need some luxury ideas with little or no cost? Here are a few of my favorites!
Use your finer tableware and dishes. Don’t wait for a party. Once in a while use your finest for yourself! Set a table as beautifully as you can. Add lighted candles and soft music during the meal and you will feel luxurious.
Place fresh cut flowers in your home for another touch of beauty. Buy what’s in season! Dried flowers are a nice alternative (dried lavender or eucalyptus). Place the flowers anywhere, even the bathroom.
Make tea a ceremony. Buy loose tea leaves. Place tea leaves in a caddy, place the caddy in a pot of boiled water and steep away. Set a tray with a fancy tea cup and saucer (forget the mug), a tea pot (if you have one) and perhaps even a little sweet!
Buy sheets that are a very high thread count. Make your bed an oasis of comfort. (There are some really good buys in discount stores). If you want to get fancy, add extra pillows for a more luxurious feel.
Plant some lavender in a pot and reap the benefits of the most pleasant aroma.
Add essential oils to your shower or bath water for a spa like feeling. The aroma will awaken your senses and calm your mind.
Bask in the sun for a few minutes even on a work day! It’s so relaxing.
Read something simply for pleasure. Get ensconced in a book you can't put down.
Indulge in your favorite DIY beauty routine. I love sugar and aloe facials! You can find so many recipe ideas online.
Soak your feet in warm water infused with fresh peppermint or spearmint for tired feet (or other essential oils) and coconut oil to moisturize dry feet).
Curl your hair. Be fancy! Velcro rollers require little effort, and no heat. I use them when I want a little height on the top of my head!
Take a stroll. Not a power walk. Opt for a natural, peaceful place that will nourish the spirit. Pick an area you like and take a long leisurely walk with family, a friend, a pet or just you. Don’t rush, just be in the moment!
Visit a Museum. Visit an art gallery. Take a house tour. Surround yourself with beauty. Museums often only require donations, and others offer discounts during off hours. House tours can get pricey but you can find deals!
And of course, always THINK B.A.R.E.
