Seven Ways to Treat Yourself for Under $100

Of course there are many things we can do that cost nothing and bring complete enjoyment to our everyday lives.  Nevertheless there are times when we want to pamper ourselves by doing something a little extra special to celebrate the day, the evening, an event or just a small victory.  There are times when we need a little help feeling our best.  There are times when we need some extra help to relax.   Here are some ideas!

  • When the weather is warm, find your favorite outdoor spot -- and bring a picnic --  cheese, breads, fruit,  veggies and a beverage.    I know a little Italian mini market where you can buy the most delicious hard or semi soft cheese for under $5, French/Italian bread for ~$2, and for vegetarians and vegans there are delicious grilled and marinated vegetable options.  You can find a good wine for $10.  Maybe there is a similar store near you where you  can buy all the essentials for a picnic for less than $25!!! Of course you can be more elaborate and buy caviar ...  as you wish :)

  • A Swedish Massage relaxes, de-stresses and works the knots out.  Typical price ranges from $60-$90 per hour.

  • A pedicure/manicure can make you feel so much more polished (pardon the pun!).   Cost should be around $20-$25 for a regular pedicure, and between $10-$15 for a regular manicure.  If you opt for a combo, many salons will give you a special price.  There is no need to pay $40 for a regular pedicure simply because you are at a fancier place.  Often the least glamorous salons provide the best manis and pedis.  (Suggestion:  Regardless of the prices charged or the salon's status bringing your own pedi/mani tool set is always a wise move)

  • Get a blow out or your hair styled -- enjoy the a new hairdo for a day or two.      There are blow out bars dedicated to only styling hair but your regular salon will most likely oblige.

  • If dinner at a restaurant is an expense you don’t want to incur, go out for dessert and coffee.  Some places that offer desserts are BYOB.  Bring your favorite wine, pair it with your favorite dessert or tapas.   Find a cute place with music and atmosphere.

  • Buy yourself a bouquet of flowers!  Fresh or dry.

  • Get Moving - Take a class.  Most gyms, yoga studios, and dance schools will allow a guest pass for one class either free or at a low cost.  If budget is tight, wait for the gym to run a special. Just be careful of the terms of the contract with any new membership!
